Outsourcing has been a major trend in manufacturing for years. Recently, the trend has been spreading quickly to finance functions, particularly those areas such as receivables and payables that have a high volume of transactions. Larger firms are leading the way in the area of outsourcing. The IAPP survey reports that over 50% of the firms over 15,000 employees outsource one or more Accounts Payable functions. Outsourced functions include freight, telecommunications, utility bills, as well as general accounts payable functions.
