We
are converting to a new ERP system. Which systems
have the best controls?
This
may sound like a cop-out, but all high-end systems
have the same basic control systems built in to the
software. Items like two vendors can't have the same
vendor number, the same invoice can't be entered twice
for the same vendor, once an invoice has been paid
it won't be paid again, etc., are all standard parts
of every system. It's how you implement the system
that's important. Make sure you understand the built-in
controls, implement them correctly, and don't build
in short-cuts which negate the controls.
